If your pet is going to have side effects, you may be more aware of them during this time period. Half of this medication will be excreted from the body within Zonisamide 50 to 70 hours. This medication can make your pet thirsty so make sure your pet has water at all times. If you forget to give a dose, give it when you remember but never give two doses at once. Give this medication only to the pet it has been prescribed for. b>Uses: Zonisamide is an anti-convulsant. It can be used to manage seizures by itself or along with other medications when used according to your veterinarians directions. Possible Side Effects: Drowsiness, incoordination, excitability, and loss of appetite can occur in pets who take this medication. Other side effects are possible. Your pet can have an allergic reaction if he/she is hypersensitive to Zonisamide. Call your veterinarian without delay if your pet is acting sick or unusual while taking this medication. Drug and Food Interactions: Carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, and topiramate may interact with Zonisamide. Other drug interactions may occur. Precautions: Do not give Zonisamide to pets who are allergic to similar medications or to sulfonamides. This medication cannot be used in pregnant females because birth defects can occur in fetuses that are exposed to Zonisamide.
